Healthy Homemade Twix Bar Bites
25 mins prepServes 12
A healthier take on the classic Twix bar, these bar bites feature a crumbly almond flour shortbread base, a creamy nut butter caramel layer, and a rich dark chocolate topping, finished with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
1. Prep the Base: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine the almond flour, melted coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt until it forms a crumbly texture.
2. Bake: Press the crumb mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of 12 muffin wells (using your fingers to pack it down). Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let them cool for 10 minutes.
3. Make the Caramel: Whisk together the nut butter, maple syrup, coconut oil, vanilla extract, and sea salt until smooth and creamy. Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the cooled shortbread crusts.
4. Add Chocolate: Melt the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil together until smooth. Pour a layer of chocolate over the caramel layer on each cup.
5. Set & Serve: Sprinkle the tops with flaky sea salt. Place the tray in the freezer for about 30 to 60 minutes until completely solid, then store them in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to eat.
